Crossroads has two classes you can earn experience levels in: Fighter and Mage.
Crossroads also supports dual-classing; you can earn experience levels in both Fighter and Mage.
The class you have more levels in becomes your primary class.
As you progress in experience levels, your title within the game (seen when someone uses the LOOK command) will change, and will reflect whether you are single or dual class, and which class is your primary.
| Levels | Mages | Mage-Fighters | Fighter-Mages | Fighters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 - 4 | Novice | Novice | Novice | Novice |
| 5 - 9 | Conjuror | Journeyman | Mercenary | Barbarian |
| 10-14 | Sorceror | Bard | Rogue | Soldier |
| 15-19 | Mage | Gypsy | Ranger | Swordsman |
| 20-24 | Enchanter | Sage | Champion | Gladiator |
| 25-29 | Adept | Mediator | Destroyer | Knight |
| 30 | Wizard | Lord |
Information extracted from HVSXROAD.MSG file by Garrie “Kamakazi” Wood.
Note: A mage-fighter is any character that is at least level 5 in both classes and has more spell casting experience than fighting experience. A fighter-mage is any character that is at least level 5 in both classes and has more fighting experience than spell casting experience.
The amount of experience in your weaker class is irrelevant in determining your title for mixed classes. For example, a level 16 fighter and 15 mage will be a “Ranger” and so will a level 16 fighter and level 8 mage.
You will max out your levels when your fighter levels and your mage levels combined reach 31. (An Air Wizard is level 30 mage and level 1 fighter.)
